Membership on the Increase!
We are seeing a steady increase in membership every term and now need only a few of the less common
instruments to complete our line up
National Concert Band Festival
We entered for the National Concert Band Festival
again in November 2011
This involved a coach trip to Rochdale, Manchester and then playing in the Community Wind bands Section.
The Pieces we played were all three movements from "Portrait of a City" by Philip Sparke
and "Our Yesterdays lengthen like Shadows" by Samuel R. Hazo
The Adjudicators awarded the band with a Gold certificate and the detailed adjudication showed that we had received Platinum standard in four categories, Silver in two
categories and Gold for all the rest..
Unfortunately we were not invited to go forward to the final at the Royal Academy of Music in London, but we are improving all the time so maybe next year :-)
